Sorry for my 4 month absence from updating my website. I will give brief highlights of the last four months with pictures. 🙂
The first week of December i had the chance to go to Mwanza with my neighbor, Alice, to minister with missionary friends of ours, Troy and Kathy Johnson. Mwanza is on Lake Victoria and is a beautiful place. We had a great time with Troy and Kathy and their son, Josiah. 🙂 We were able to be a blessing to Troy and Kathy and their ministry in Mwanza as well as being totally blessed ourselves.
The week before Christmas, we had a compound party for all of the workers on our property. I had Monica pick the menu, so it was quite the affair. There was beans and rice, chapati’s (kinda like tortillas), and pork ribs. It was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Monica – grilling the 10+ pounds of pork ribs
The friday before Christmas, i had Monica, Neema, Karen and Alice all over for Christmas dinner at my house. I made my mom’s famous pot roast, with mashed potatoes, and yeast rolls. It tasted just like home. Mmmmm! Thanks for the recipes mom!
After our gift exchange we proceded to watch Jane Austen’s Persuasion, Miracle on 34th Street and then The Return of the King (Lord of the Rings part 3).
Christmas Eve was spent at my friend Jill’s house, with all my peeps. 🙂 It was a great time of exchanging gifts. It was especially fun watching the kids open their gifts. 🙂
On Christmas Day i went with my friends Justin, Julius, Joel, Rehema, Gaudy and Edina to their familys’ homes on the mountain to celebrate the holiday. It was a lot of fun.
After returning from the mountain, i was able to capture on camera, the guys making dinner. All of the girls that live on the property were gone, so the guys had to fend for themselves. It was a nice to see. 😀 They did a good job too.
January was full of transition. My roommate, Mary, returned from the states. As did Charles and Sharon, from their trip to the states for the holidays. At the end of the month, i went with my friend, Margaret, to a retreat hostel on the side of mount kilimanjaro. To say the least i got some amazing shots of Kilimanjaro. 🙂
February was quite full of many new things. Alice, got a new worker on the property. Her name is Naomi, and she is my friend Rehema’s little sister. I LOVE HER! 🙂 We had a fun little photo session one day. She is the one who inspired me with “Life without you is like porridge without sugar.” 🙂 She is my sugar and we have a blast together. She is a nice addition to the property here.
Here are some shots from our girls photo shoot here on the property. 🙂
For Valentines Day, me and my girls had dinner together and then watched a movie. It was fun.
Oh, and how could i forget the excitment of my Chicago Bears being in the Superbowl. We had a Superbowl Party at my brother Peter’s house. I made the refreshments. 😀
Mid-February we got a new addition to our team. Her name is Gina, and WE LOVE HER!!! She is a really great addition to our team here. We are totally blessed! A week after she got here, she and i went to language school for 3 weeks. She went for the beginners course and i went for intermediate. It was really good to be able to focus on language for those three weeks. My classmates, for my intermediate group were WONDERFUL! We had such a good time in class and with our teachers.
I will need to preface these next shots. These were taken on our last day of class. In one of our classes we got talking about our favorite restaurants in the states. Anthony and Shasta brought up the “melting pot,” a fondue restaurant. So we took time explaining fondue to our teacher. She really bought into the idea, so the last day of class we did fondue at her house… Afrikan style. 😀
The day after we finished language school, was St. Patty’s day! 🙂 Go Irish! We had a nice dinner at Charlie and Sharons, in celebration of the day. I am not sure if any of us are Irish though. 🙂
Well, i am going to stop here for now. More to come soon!
